Physician-Prescribed Hypnosis

You might know that hypnosis can help you quit smoking, change habits, and lose weight, but you might not know that hypnosis can help you with health issues. Since ancient times, people have been using hypnosis to heal themselves from many different ailments.

The power of your mind to heal your body is truly exceptional. Read on to discover how hypnosis can help you feel better, recover sooner, and save money in the process.

What is physician-prescribed hypnosis?

Physician-prescribed hypnosis is done under the supervision of your doctor. All clients coming to me for health issues are required to have an approval form signed by their primary care physician. Hypnosis is a complementary treatment, and is not a replacement for proper medical care. Used in conjunction with traditional medicine, hypnosis can speed up your healing process tremendously.

Is hypnosis a legitimate treatment for health issues?

Hypnosis was approved by the American Medical Association (AMA) in 1958. Today, hypnosis is being employed by a growing number of medical professionals and hospitals all over the world. Studies by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) show hypnosis to be an effective complementary treatment option for a number of conditions, including severe pain from cancer and other serious conditions.

Will my physician approve me for hypnosis?

It depends on the doctor. However, since I have been in practice, none of my client’s doctors have refused to sign off for hypnosis. In my experience, most doctors are highly supportive of people seeking complementary methods of healing. What your doctor might have an issue with, however, is using hypnosis as a replacement for proper care. Hypnosis does not replace traditional medical care in any way.

When you ask your doctor to approve your hypnosis sessions, make it clear that you will be continuing your regular medical treatment. Tell your doctor that you will be continuing your regular treatment plan, and that you will discontinue your hypnosis sessions at his/her request.

As long as you make it clear that hypnosis will be a complement to your medical treatment, rather than a replacement, I believe that your doctor will be supportive of your decision to seek out hypnosis services.

What are the best practices for getting physician approval?

The best way to get physician approval is to ask in person. Download the approval form here, and give it to your doctor to sign when you ask about using hypnosis. Many doctor’s offices are bogged down with paperwork. Sending the form by email or having them send it to me directly could delay the receipt of your form. Because we can’t start our work until I receive the signed form, it is best if you get the form signed then bring it to me when you have your first session.

What conditions can physician-prescribed hypnosis help me with?

Hypnosis can help with a wide variety of ailments from mild to severe. If you have a question about whether a certain health condition can be improved with hypnosis, schedule a consultation or give me a call at 972-600-8440.

There are four broad categories for physician-prescribed hypnosis: Accelerated Healing, Pain Control, Surgery Preparation, and Childbirth Preparation.

Accelerated Healing

The subconscious mind controls the autonomic nervous system. (ANS) The ANS regulates the body’s involuntary functions such as heart rate, breathing, and circulation. The state of hypnosis itself has many healing properties. Just by practicing hypnosis for 10 minutes, the ANS becomes regulated, returning to a state of homeostasis (balance). In hypnosis, stress naturally dissipates, allowing the immune system to function better.

With hypnosis, you can communicate directly with the subconscious mind. Because the subconscious mind controls the ANS, you can direct the body to do what it needs to do to heal itself.

Studies have shown reduced healing time of all kinds of ailments including bone fractures, all achieved with the power of hypnosis.

Pain Control

Chronic pain is a true epidemic in America. Approximately 1/3rd of American adults suffer from some type of pain each day. Most people turn to medication to reduce pain. Medication, however, is risky and expensive. It is entirely possible to reduce and even eliminate pain with hypnosis. Additionally, I will teach you pain control techniques as a self-care tool. Using self-hypnosis, you can reduce pain levels whenever it becomes necessary, not just in my office.

Some pain is psychosomatic. If you’re not familiar with that term it means that there is no physical cause of the pain. Rather, it’s all in the mind. That being said, psychosomatic illness still produces physical symptoms.

A lot of psychosomatic illness results from repressed emotions. Hypnosis is a phenomenal tool for identifying and releasing the cause of psychosomatic illness.

Surgery Preparation

Surgery can be stressful and expensive, but a lot of the times it’s the best option. Hypnosis can help you reduce anxiety about your upcoming surgery. You can get through your surgery with more comfort and fewer complications. With surgery preparation, there are three phases. It the first phase, we prepare the mind for surgery by dealing with anxiety regarding the operation. In the second phase, I make a clients a recording to listen to during the actual surgery. Finally, the recovery phase focuses on healing quickly with maximum comfort.

Childbirth Preparation

Childbirth can be a traumatic experience for both the child and the mother. Birth trauma stays with the child and affects them the rest of their life. The first step in raising a confident child who feels secure in the world is a natural birth. Learning self-hypnosis is an excellent way to prepare yourself to have a smooth, easy delivery.

How many sessions will I need?

For health-related issues you are usually looking at 6-8 sessions. That is more than the typical 5-6 sessions for other issues.

However, once you notice than quick and often dramatic results that come from using my services, you will find that your reduced medical costs will more than pay for the cost of your sessions.

Do you take insurance?

I do not take insurance. However, with the signed referral form from your doctor and the receipts from your sessions, you can seek reimbursement from your insurance company. Seeking reimbursement is entirely your responsibility. Maness Hypnosis does not guarantee that your reimbursement will be approved. That is between you and your insurance company.

Why should I choose Maness Hypnosis?

The reason you should choose me is simple. Most other hypnotists have only a small fraction of the training that I do. At Maness Hypnosis, you can be sure that you are getting the best service and the best value for your money.
